About John

I’ve been helping people lead, coach and communicate better for over twenty years. I started out in recruitment, moved into training, and spent nearly five years as a learning consultant with Capita Learning & Development, including a twelve month secondment to the Volkswagen Group in the UK and Germany. I was named Development Professional of the Year in 2006 and set up Limpid Learning in 2010.

Before all that I trained in Drama and Education at the Central School of Speech and Drama and worked briefly as a professional actor. It taught me something I still use in every session: people learn best when they are fully present, practising real conversations rather than listening to theory.

Today I work directly with organisations and as an associate for leading L&D providers, delivering across the UK, Europe, the US, Africa and Asia. Much of my work has been in automotive retail with BMW Group, Audi UK, Porsche GB and Volkswagen, alongside Shell, the Financial Times, The Pensions Regulator and local government.

How I work

Practical, not theoretical. Honest, not hyped. I keep things clear, which is where the name Limpid comes from, and I focus on the few behaviours that will make the biggest difference back at work. If there’s one thing I always bring, it’s clarity on decisions: who makes the call, and how everyone else contributes.
